Let go of anxiety and embodied emotions

Unreleased trauma is held in our muscles. The only way to discharge the trauma is to allow the muscles to move and finish the action they were not able to finish during the trauma event. People often suffer from sudden jerks in their legs, or other parts of their bodies when they are falling asleep or when they enter hypnosis. This is because the trauma that has not been resolved is suppressed by the conscious mind and held in check during normal waking time. But when the conscious mind's control slips away, that trauma is brought out unconsciously and the effect is to make the muscles spasm.

This script works directly with the muscles to release the trauma by allow the unconscious mind to imagine massaging and easing the affected muscles, and encouraging the client to assist by tensing and relaxing their own muscles.

 

Restless Legs SCRIPT

 

Hypnotic Induction

   
  Are you sitting comfortably?   Yes Set 1
  Feeling at ease?   2
  Ready to relax now and go deeper?   3
Memory I wonder if you can imagine someplace comfortable... some where that you can relax and let go... allow your mind to think of a place like that... and remember the feeling you get from really relaxing... V Relaxation Induction
  and now take a deep breath and as you breathe it out... let everything relax...    
  and take another deep breath, and as you breath out, allow your eyes to close.   eye closure
  And while you are getting that feeling... allow your mind to drift away to a place outdoors.... a beach... by the water... V Presupposition
  Now focus on your breathing... Imagine with each gentle breath that you are relaxing even more now... and think about being on that beach... by the water... K  
  and imagine that waves are gently lapping on shore... and each wave comes in and goes out with each breath.... V Pace with breathing
  and as you breath out... begin to count from twenty down to one.... each number with a breath... and as you think of each number you are getting more relaxed... more at ease... more comfortable...   Countdown induction
  so when you are ready... start counting with each breath out...    
  Twenty .... nineteen.... more and more relaxed... and eighteen... letting it all go... and seventeen... and sixteen...   pace with breathing
  and as you are going deeper and deeper... as each wave goes out... you are relaxing more... relaxing more and more.... now.... >  
  and as you relax more... it might get harder and harder to think of the next number... allow those numbers to relax right out of your mind... you can forget those numbers... just let them drift away....   Modified Elman Induction
  they are not important.... nothing's important... you don't have to think... you don't have to listen... you don't have to do anything ... except allow that relaxation to take you deeper and deeper...    
  [pause]   allow time
  and now focus your attention on your hands... become aware of those hands.... and become aware of a need, a compulsion to move a finger or thumb...   finger lift depth test
  and don't assist... just let allow it to happen... and it might start as tiny tremor... or maybe the wrist or the whole hand will move...    
  [await signal... if OK, continue, if not, do further deepening]    
  That's good... now take a deep breath and allow your mind to clear....    
 

Releasing buried tension from the muscles

   
  Now just imagine lying in a warm bath... you have everything you need... lying relaxed in warm water... just the way you like it...    
  and imagine in your mind you feel yourself floating.... floating away... drifting.... a dreamy ... drowsy... soft kind of feeling...    
  and you can feel the water on your skin... rippling and soothing... smoothing... the water softly gently moving against your skin... like a gentle massage...    
  imagine the water carrying you... caressing you.... feel that water all over your body....    
  and as that water begins to softly massage your skin and muscles... you can become more aware of your body... so you can sense every part of your body...    
  you can become very aware of feelings in your body... places where there are tensions... where there are blockages... stress...   Connect to the body
  you are becoming more and more aware of any knots... any pressure.... any feelings deep in your muscles.... in your arms.... your legs.... your stomach... your back... your shoulders....

Reorientation

   
  and so knowing that your mind is taking care of your body...    
  you can continue to relax even more... and allow yourself to drift ever deeper... down and down... and have a deep refreshing sleep for as long as you want...    
  or you can come back to the present now... by counting quietly in your mind from five up to one...    
  and when you get to one you will be back in the present... feeling refreshed and comfortable...    
  you can chose now...to drift into a lovely deep sleep.... or come back to the present as soon as you are ready...
